Procured contracts: Supporting mental health and wellbeing in the local community

In 2020 Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust (BEHMHT) were on a journey to transform community mental health services and root them in its communities. An existing Voluntary And Community Sector (VCS) agreement had been in place across each of the three boroughs to provide the services required to BEHMHT. There was a push for a radical change in the design of community mental health care to a new model focusing on the health and wellbeing of the local population with an expansion of the workforce, integrated working with partners and alignment to the geography and needs of local communities.
The Posterity Global team worked with BEHMHT clinical, financial, procurement and contract management professionals to:
- Review the current VCS Framework Contract and advise on the options available - highlighting any benefits, disadvantages and risks associated with each option;
- Outline a recommended VCS construct, market engagement approach, procurement route and contract management structure;
- Ensure internal and connected stakeholders and service providers for each borough had a full understanding of contract performance.
This enabled the Posterity Global team to develop a set of realistic and timebound options to help BEHMHT move forward. Using this information, BEHMHT senior leaders approved the most favourable recommendation and extended Posterity Global to lead the preparation of this on the Trust’s behalf.
Value & Impact
Posterity Global provided BEHMHT with the data, objective recommendations and tools to make the right decision on the next phase for the critical VCS Contract, using a user centred approach to design.
Alongside completion of the contracted deliverables Posterity Global added value by providing consultancy on modern ways of engaging with markets and voluntary groups, developing clear contract management approaches and identifying key commercial and contractual risks. .
